Social Justice at L-Dub
Social justice is embedded in everything we do at L-Dub. By intentionally choosing curriculum content across departments that centers voices not traditionally heard, providing service learning opportunities for students to make change in our local community, engaging in local partnerships, and celebrating school-wide events like the Social Justice Film Festival, we empower students to advocate and make a drive for social and systemic change. We authentically value, celebrate, and amplify student voices and experiences and provide them the tools, support, and environment to continue to advocate for a more just and equitable world.
Social Justice Film Festival
In the Social Justice & Film class, eighth graders form small groups to creatively integrate interviews, videos, and still photos. Their mission? To craft inspiring five-minute films that prompt action, provoke thought, and fuel discussions on social justice issues that matter to them. After each screening, attendees cast their votes for their favorite films. The anticipation builds as the results are tallied and announced to the community! Let the cinematic celebration begin!
