Welcome
Thank you for your interest in Lake Washington Girls Middle School.
We invite you to join our inspired & talented Lake Washington Girls Middle School team who actively ignites our Mission by encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership, and empowers girls to be strong in mind, body, and voice to advocate for a more just and equitable world.
L-DUB opened its doors in 1998 and serves approximately 100 students in grades 6 through 8 in our beautiful and modern learning environment, located in Seattle’s North Beacon Hill. The size and dynamic of the L-DUB community offer visibility, engagement, and the ability to impact students in meaningful ways.
L-DUB saw the need for an all-girls education in this community and has an innovative and holistic approach to educating adolescent girls, including anyone who identifies as or has been socialized as a girl. Our school is dedicated to the value of different perspectives and backgrounds, and to inspiring curiosity and cultivating compassion in a collaborative and dynamic academic community.
Our values of “Respect and Responsibility” infuse the school’s culture. This culture enables greater collaboration among teachers, staff, and students and allows us to provide impactful hands-on and experiential learning experiences for our students.
The L-Dub learning environment is specifically designed to enhance programming and promote better learning for this generation of L-Dub girls and the next, with:
- A science lab, art classroom, and STEAM studio;
- A performance space with a stage and tech booth;
- A school commons that serves as a lunchroom and hub of the building;
- A big, green space for outdoor classrooms, community gatherings, and running around and playing; and
- A full gymnasium for PE, sports practices, and games
Our spaces foster greater collaboration among teachers and students, and allow us to provide more hands-on and experiential learning experiences to our students.
